"Some were called"

Called by God

In first Samuel 3:1-4:1 Young Samuel had grown up in the Temple but as of yet had not heard the voice of the Lord. Then one night as he lay down to sleep the voice of the Lord called his name”Samuel”.

Here are some things about Samuel that I find interesting about Samuel.

He was dedicated and surrendered to God.

He served the man of God.

He willingly listened for and answered the call of God once he was made aware that it was God calling him.

He remained meek and humble even after talking one on one with the Almighty God.

While these four facts may seem trivial to some, they are very significant. We will look at each one by order of importance. #1. Samuel’s mother Hannah, dedicated him to the Lord from his birth and afterward brought him to the man of God at the temple where he would live for all of his growing up years. Now God is talking to him far into the night. This is proof that God doesn’t necessarily call the qualified, he qualifies the called.
